Things to Do in Hotel Zone, Cancun You Can’t Miss

Cancun is one of Mexico’s most popular tourist destinations, renowned for its beaches and nightlife. Located on the coast of the Caribbean Sea in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. It’s also known for the hotel zone, a strip of hotels and resorts lining the beach in Cancun, but trying to look for activities can be overwhelming.

There’s so much to do, we have decided to list some of the best things to Do in the Hotel Zone, Cancun.

The area provides many amenities such as access to bars, restaurants, shops and nightclubs, making this area such a hotspot for tourists and travelers. It is a great place for families because of its many attractions and activities. It is also great for couples that want to get away from it all, but still have access to all the amenities they need.

There’s a wide range of options for you to stay at, but a perfect choice is Iberostar’s Cancún, Mexico, resorts. It’s located near Playa Delfines, right in the center of the area, making it a perfect spot.

1) Playa Delfines

One of the best beaches in Cancun, white sanded beach with turquoise water, it’s pretty well known for its panoramic views from El Mirador. The place is packed with most of the activities you can enjoy in a beach or in Cancún, from scuba diving to kiteboarding, renting a wave runner or just relaxing on the beach.

2) Visit an Archaeological Zone

Mexico is packed with Mayan history and culture, and you can find scattered around the country many archaeological sites, and fortunately, just in the hotel zone of Cancun are two, El Rey and San Miguelito Archaeological Zone, visit those old ruins and learn more of their culture.

3) Learn Kiteboarding

If you’re the adventure traveler type, I highly recommend you to try kiteboarding. Fortunately, really close to Iberostar there’s a kite school where you can rent or take classes. It’s a really common activity, so you’ll often find people doing it around the area.

Recommended: Airlift Kiteboarding

4) Do Some Golf

We just can’t leave golf out of this, since in Cancun you can find some of the most beautiful golf courses the country has to offer, and one is at Iberostar Cancun. A full packed golf club with amazing views, sitting on Nichupte Lagoon where you can find tropical vegetation, and wildlife like birds, and iguanas,

5) Go Scuba Diving

There’s no better place in North America for scuba diving than Mexico, these Caribbean waters are packed with life, coral reefs and a lot more. Dive into many cool spots, like shipwrecks and an underwater museum that will leave you speechless, where a ton of sunken sculptures shaped like humans are waiting for you.

If you want to dive more on your trip to Mexico, don’t forget to pay a visit to Isla Holbox for whale sharks and Tulum to dive in the cenotes!

6) Mayan Museum

Talking about museums, we can’t ignore the Mayan Museum, located in the hotel zone. This museum is packed with history, ornaments and artifacts from the Mayans. A place to learn a lot about Mayans culture and its daily life.

7) Party at Coco Bongo

It is not a secret that Cancun is well known for its party scene, many people travel from all over the world come to the Hotel Zone not only for their beaches, but for their parties too and Coco Bongo is the perfect example as one of the best and hottest night spots in Cancun.

Prices go from $90, $150 and beyond, the staff and entertainment team is out of the world. Here you can find live music, acrobats and a party vibe that will make you dance

8) Go shopping

The hotel zone is packed with stores, markets and souvenir shops, but most importantly you’ll find a lot of luxury stores, and the biggest draw about it is you can opt for the tax-free benefit when buying luxury goods.

You’ll need to follow the application process, and that can be a hassle, but you can end up saving a lot of money since in Mexico taxes are 16%.

Recommendations:

  • La Isla Shopping Mall – For luxury items
  • Plaza Party or Mercado Negro – For souvenirs
  • Mercado 28 – For unique and unusual souvenirs

9) Interactive Aquarium Cancún

If you decide to go shopping at La Isla Shopping Mall, great! Because right there is located the Cancún Interactive Aquarium, a huge aquarium that hosts a lot of marine life. But the biggest draw about it is the price, it’s a cheap activity, you’ll be paying $15 for a basic entrance.

With the basic entrance fee, you’ll be able to get up close to many fishes with different shapes and colors. If you like to do the interactive options, you can book a swim with dolphins.

You can find the aquarium open from 9 am to 8 pm.

10) Cancun Scenic Tower

Cancun is full of beautiful landscapes, different blue colors on the water, ships, and buildings and the best place to enjoy those views is the Cancun Scenic Tower with its 260 feet or 80 meters tall.

My favorite part of this is the fact you don’t have to climb to the top, which can come in handy for disabled people. The whole viewing deck works like an elevator, coming down and going up, taking you to the top.

Another good draw about it is its price and schedule, the entrance fee is $20, and it’s open from 9 am to 9 pm, that way you can enjoy a beautiful sunset.
